Situation
FieldVision is a soccer game-film analysis platform. Several hundred teams used it.
I was its only frontend engineer, from 2018 to 2021. Three years, one person, and no second frontend engineer to split the work with.
What I did — engineering
The video review and clipping tools were hand-rolled. Moving through game film and cutting a piece out of it is what the platform is for, and those tools were mine to build.
The CI/CD was mine as well as the frontend, and the release cadence moved from monthly to bi-weekly on that pipeline — release engineering alongside the video tooling, in the same three years.
Outcome
Several hundred teams used the platform, its video review and clipping tools were hand-rolled, and by 2021 it was releasing bi-weekly rather than monthly, on a pipeline I owned.
Of the two figures on this page, the cadence is the one that moved. Several hundred teams is the platform's number; monthly to bi-weekly is what changed over the three years I was the frontend.
